HELM Group charity and sporting
HELM believes in allowing people to grow in their abilities no matter what gender, religion or race. This is why we have focused our sponsorship in Ireland and the UK on what can be considered as either minority sports or those charitable organisations who have previously found acquiring funds difficult. Illustrations in the sporting field include: Women's Rugby in Ireland, youth football teams in Ireland, township youth rugby in South Africa and the Irish Bobsleigh team in the 2002 winter Olympics. Staff, working in countries in the developing world, have seen at first hand, poverty, crime and corruption. We at HELM have a growing concern for such problems, and have offered support to charities operating in these areas to reduce such activities. Our staff are particularly active with the Irish Rovers charity which is helping, through the medium, of sport to change and improve the lives of disadvantaged children in Ethiopia and Bangladesh. (See: www.irishrovers.org) We also actively support the Acid Survivors Trust in Bangladesh, Action Cancer and organisations supporting the disabled.
